Multiplayer demo games

I recently bought a copy of Dominions 2 and am currently trying to show the game to my friends. I was wondering if it were possible to run a multiplayer game with the demo, and if so, whether I would need to run the demo to participate, or whether the full-version game would be valid. Any help on this would be appreciated.
