Poor morale is never an advantage... the sooner they run the sooner they stop supporting other troops on the field such as a SC or slow tank troops. Also the sooner they run the more likely your army will lose during close battles.
I only buy the Machaka archers during the beginning of a game or if I'm desperate.

Yes... but that hopefully Dominions3 will have better/stronger province defense for the races.
