Can the map font be modded?

Hi guys,

I'd like to shrink the font used for the province names on the map. They look a mess when turned on and seem to be twice as large as they need to be. Also the colour of the font makes it unreadable on some maps.

Can anyone advise if it is possible and where I might start?
