Default Re: Weapon Platforms

I'm not knocking there use in game. I'm just saying in my opinion they imbalance the game. Saying that a weapon built for space combat can't engage a ground target very well is a little fishy, as long as the weapon is missile based that is. Also WP aren't that small, at least not compared to a tank which we can hit from miles off with dead on precision. WP are there to make planetary conquest much more difficult. There are other ways to do it but WP are probably the easiest. In the SFTC I was attempting to make planet conquest a preferred option over glassing by adjusting the economy, planetary capacity, and population bonuses. In the Beta version I had posted this failed as I hadn't succeeded in fully implementing all of those aspects. Now that I have finally resolved the integration problems it is working very well. Point is; speaking from experience, I can say that WP are a much easier way than going through all the adjustments I did. However, it is an imbalance to say the least. There is a better way and I think Atrocities accidentally hit on it one day when he started talking about ground combat and adjustments to the units themselves. Unfortunately more people jumped forward to say why it wouldn't work than came forward to say how it can be made to work.
