Team Mode Questions

I noticed the "human vs. AI" team mode option recently. I'm organizing a PBW game with some friends and wondered if anyone who has played this could describe how it plays. Do all the human players begin in partnership? Does the game count the total score of one side vs. the other to determine the victor? Can you still form alliances with AI players? etc...
