Space Empires IV Accessories and Enhancements

I just bought a copy of SEIV Deluxe for a friend, and I'd like to also burn him a disc with all the additional goodies needed to play the game to it's fullest.

I know he'll need a patch, and a few other goodies, so I thought I'd post the question here:

What are the top ten most useful/essential/beneficial additions needed to enhance SEIV gameplay ?
(excluding Mods, of course, because those I have already dealt with...)
