Default ...an illegal operation and will be shut down.

I did some searches for this but didn't come up with anything so, I have to ask does anyone else get this.

I have the dl version and this is the first time I have ever tried to run it.

When I try to run the game from the gameoptions.exe or the spww2.exe I get the unfortunate "This program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down" message. And I'm done.

I did restart after initial install. I then reinstalled the non-upgraded version and left it unpatched with all default settings, except the inital country pairings, I chose Germany and Soviet Union with default June 1944. Its the same for full screen or windowed. I turned off everything in the background. And I restarted after every failure, just to clear ram.

My red baron install will give me this message if too deeply embedded so I tried copying the WinSPWW2 folder directly to my c: drive with no positive result.

I'm running win98 with 512 ram, 1 gig athlon, and a 64meg Voodoo 5 and a simple sound blaster card.

Gee, I hope someone knows what this is. I'd really like to try this game out.

Any ideas welcome.

Joe
