And it happens much more often that it might seem. Just a few days ago I had my 31 MR ghost king paralyzed by three illithids spamming mind blast.
The difference is, I knew that illithids are supposed to spam mind blast and that I open my GK to a huge risk. I took that risk voluntarily, I could opt to avoid them instead. Illithids dont come after you shaking tentacles and frying your brain when you cower in fear in your capitol, doing research and forging items. Zombies do.
