Altering Intro graphics

Howdy,

So, I was working with the intro graphics and I can't figure out how the transparency works for the "Return to Infinite Space" and zorg pics. I've altered my pics with a black background, but the transparency seems to still be fitting the "Return to Infinite Space" text. I've looked at altered intro graphics in other mods and I can't seem to find out where the transparency is defined. How do they work?
