None of those are "strategies" - all are minor tactics.

Read the Game Guide -> game play notes section. Also, in the MBT forum, try the sticky thread "I need tactical help".

Remember that this is a tactical level game - so search for "tactics". A strategic level game would be e.g. hearts of Iron where you are assigning factory production etc.
