Air Defense Trigonometry
For anti-aircraft purposes what altitude are CAS fighters operating at, is it comparable to helicopters set at high altitudes? I ask because on several occasions I have noticed my antiquated non-radar, thermal infrared, near infrared or night vision goggle equipped AA crews firing upon fighters where between the gun emplacement and the flight path of the fighter there is a hill or some other blockage. Is it the case that airplanes are at such an altitude that the gun-emplacement angle of elevation is greater than that angle which would be blocked by adjacent cover?
