Diplomacy (Map and small Mod)
Make friends. Plot your conquest of Europe. Stab your buddy.
The map from the classic game diplomacy (plus a few extra provinces) as a scenario wherein 7 nations compete for dominance:
MA Ermor as Italy (starts in Roma)
MA Ulm as Germany (starts in Berlin)
MA Man as England (starts in Liverpool - balance reasons)
MA Marignon as France (starts in Paris)
MA Pythium as Turkey (starts in Konstantiniyye)
MA Arco as Austro-Hungary (starts in Budapest, was the closest nation geographically)
LA Bogarus as Russia (starts in Moskva, moved to MA)
Played to 18 victory points.
All victory provinces other than capitals are either ports or strongholds. Ports generally have a known feature which allows recruitment of either sailing commanders or amphibious creatures. Strongholds usually have a feature which provides a fort, but those must be searched for. See the .map file for details. Some sites are new. Nations in weaker positions tend to have stronger port and/or stronghold sites in their national supply center provinces.
LA Bogarus's capital gem income increased by +1f.
4 new units including fearsome Hoburg pirates. (Thank Elmokki for the awesome hoburg pirate sprites)
I made an effort to name all provinces in either their native tongue or the controlling historical nation's tongue, as appropriate for the historical period. Accents omitted when Dom3 could not display them.
------------
This is an early beta version. Site balance can probably use tweaking. Map is going to receive some editing (replacing Diplomacy nation names with the Dom3 names and flags)
Playing the map requires a small mod that is included. Put the .tga and .map files in your maps folder, and the .dm file and Diplomacy folder in your mods folder. It is intended for play with CBM and some things may not work as intended if its not so used.
The map graphic is smaller than i would like, but its the largest I could find. If anyone can get me a jpeg or tga of the gameboard used with suitably larger dimensions, i can fix the size problem.
Moving Bogarus to MA deletes its nation description for no apparent reason. Just live with it, not worth fixing.
Hasbro owns the trademark Diplomacy and the Gameboard graphics. This is a transformative use for another game, and no infringement is intended, nor does this use compete with Hasbro's use for the sale of its own game.
