Er, Last I checked, skip shields and skip armor did work in combat against fighters, satellites, and weapon platforms. Religious Talisman + Null Space Projectors = Hot Tasty Death vs. Units, since shields and armor are bypassed. Yes, you still have to do the damage to the armor to destroy it, but that makes little difference. The big difference is that the shields are bypassed, and IIRC, those are calculated per unit in space combat. Since it doesn't matter how many shield points you have when your HP drop to <= 0, they are bypassable. If everything functions until the Last bit of damage is taken to the HP, then it would seem that armor becomes much more useful in certain situations though.
