Analyzing Ships for Tech

When analyzing a ship for technology do you get all the techs leading up to the technology you analyze or just the technology under consideration?

From FAQ:
6.5.3 You get 1 level of technology for each “unique” component that you don’t have. Therefore if you haven’t researched Point Defense yet and analyze a ship with 2 Point Defense Cannon V’s, you only get 1 level of PDC for analyzing that ship. However, if the ship had 1 PDC IV and 1 PDC V, you would get 2 levels of PDC for analyzing that ship because PDC IV and PDC V are different unique components.

So you don't get Military Science. Only corresponding level of PDC.

I don't know if you did this or not but to find something in the FAQ that you know should be in there, use the search feature in your browsers instead of reading through to table of contents. It should be Edit/Find on this Page or some such. Or just use the hotkey Ctrl-F, then just type in what you want to find. Just a tip.
