How about a 1-sided die? You know, for determining if those Talisman shots will hit...

Slick.
A die for the Talisman is a chit with the words "Hit" on both sides.

Edit: or maybe MC Escher or David E. Gervais could create one

I was thinking more of a sphere with "Hit" written all over it.

You want to make a true 1-sided die? Cut a strip of paper, say 1/2" x 1'. Hold both ends and give 1 end a half-turn then tape the ends together. 1-side! and 1-edge!!!

Proof of 1 side: grab a pencil and start drawing a line down the strip. Soon you will be back where you started, having covered all of the surface.

Proof of 1 edge: do same thing along 1 edge.

I love Mobia strips. I should have thought of that when I said MC Escher.

Speaking of sphere dice, I found a site selling them. Perfect spheres with the dots on six sides just like a regular six sided die. And they are supposed to work like regular dice where one side always comes up.

Apparently how they work is they are hollow with a cubical cavity inside and a ball bearing. The bearing will always come to rest in one of the corners, causing that side to be down.

I had a set of those when I was the "every-popular" dungeon master a long time ago. And, yes, that's how they worked.

remember, I said the three sided die had rounded ends. it was impossible to stand it on end. You are taking my extremely crude diagram to literally. the ends are not actually flat. If made right the sample would have a slightly beveled pyramid on each end. The dice I had was made of wood and all the edges were slightly rounded. moreso on the ends. Heck, it would probably take me about 15 mins to make one with a scrap of wood, a crosscut saw and a bit of sanding.

Cheers!

P.S. I took the 5 mins to make a .3ds model of exactly what I mean for the shape. If you would like it, just tell me where to send it.
