Re: Democracy at work :)
Each mod pack is owned by the people who wrote them. So they each have rules on what should and should not be included.

Re: Democracy at work :)
I know MM are busy but I'd really like to see some of these user mods and races making it into "official" updates (ie the patches).
I already have 2 installations of SEIV to cope with the two different configurations needed for my 2 different PBEM games.
It would be much better if MM included what they thought were the best mods into the game so that ppl could play with a standard installation but not feel they are missing out on anything.

There is an exception to every rule. Including this one.

Re: Democracy at work :)
I was pretty much blown away when I found out you could customize so much in Space Empires IV. I still am in awe of Aaron for the whole concept. I think it might be going against the spirit of the game if Aaron were to come out in favor of one mod or the other. They are all great in their own way. It all depends on what you are looking for.
Of course, Aaron, (How does he find the time?!?) seems to have modified the default AI files to improve the default configuration according to mods created by players. Is that amazing or what?

Re: Democracy at work :)
Due to copyrights, MM can not take any of the Mods that contain B5,Star trek, Star wars AI's and use them as offical patchs. He has taken some of the non related parts and added them.

Re: Democracy at work :)
Yes but what MM can't put in we as the Online community can provide, now universal shipyards did this well but tripod (grrrr) dumped them, their back up but its not totaly working yet. So this forum is now the best place to get them and since the mod pack is the best mod in existance so far I think it should probably incorperate other mods, such as the centauri with the authors explicit permission to allow the occasional tweak, I know I would allow it to happen to any shipset/race that I made

Re: Democracy at work :)
Maybe MM could get around the copyright stuff by only including the AI files for Star Trek, BSG, etc. Then you could add your own shipset to it and create the race.
I'd love to see the sound package Tampa Gamer created, for example, included as part of the main game package.
Including some of this would also be a big help when new patches come out too as the additions, hopefully, would be completely compatiable with the patch.
