Actually, to join Tim, i'm a self-taught programmer as well. Started in C and Pascal when I was young, progressed to C++ later, and then moved to the "Visual" Languages when Windows started taking over. Now I use both Visual C++ and Visual Basic fairly well.

Well, I did go to school as well for programming for awhile later on, but I learned more on my own about how real world programming works than I ever did in school.

Isn't that the truth. Schools seem to have some barrier, that prevent them teaching what will help in real life! They supply the knowledge, just no application of it. It has always seemed odd, to me.
