Solaris is a Paladin, but a very experienced and well equipped one. Thus his stats are hidden from mortal eyes.

There are some items that can't be forged by players. These can be found on special heroes that sometimes appear during map generation.

Specials such as these can only appear in nonscripted provinces. They are rather rare. A handful in a large game at most.

Sun battlesuit (sword, shield, helm & armor). Grants partial elemental resistance, extra magic resistance, awesome presence, berserk. IIRC the sword also inflicts extra fire damage.

I met Solaris a couple of times in Dom1. In 1, his armor was described as giving elemental immunity, but I am certain that I killed him with a lightning bolt. It seemed that his fancy gear wasn't protecting him, but I don't know if it worked properly when equipped on a player's commander.
