2.08 is essentially better than 2.06 in every way except 1 subtheme for 1 nation (Utgard for Jotunheim). I highly recommend you use 2.08, and that you avoid playing Jotunheim/Utgard until the next patch.

The random map generator is great if you like random maps. But the existing maps are randomized (by population, magic sites, and richness; not topologically) when a game is generated, and the existing maps look WAY better than random maps. Go to the Illwinter maps page for new maps, or try
here for the rmg.
Anything else? I'm biased, but I suggest the prepatch2073 mod, which changes some unit stats... these bugs are so mild you would probably never notice them, but they can be annoying if you do.
