Assassin effectiveness

Lord of Night is kewl. But nothing beats a pretender assassin.

So that would explain my ineffective attempt at an assassination against an Indy commander. It just boils down to 1 vs 1 combat (or more I suppose).

Stealth adds no bonuses (you know, the traditional stab the guy in the back scenario) it seems except for the fact that it got me into the province unnoticed in the first place, correct?

Correct. And the defender gets to act first, as in any combat.

And never script any of your commanders to retreat, if you are in danger of being attacked by your opponent's assasins. If victim retreats from assasination attempt, he is considered to be dead by Dom2 engine.
