Re: (Way OT) WOOOOT DOOM THE MOVIE!
I think the Rock is the replacement for Arnold Schwarzenegger. Eventually the Rock will get to old and they will replace him with a new bodybuilder/Wrestler.

Ah, so now we know who the next Terminator is.
As far as a Doom movie, it can't be better than Resident Evil (either of them). That means, at best, I'll laugh at some of the insanely stupid stuff in the movie; at worst, I'll want to claw my eyes out and chew off an arm, in the hopes it will get me out of the theatre. I just don't see any way to make this a really good movie. And, when you think about it, has there EVER been a videogame -> film adaptation that has been GOOD? All that I've seen range from very sub-par to outright horrible...

I think that most people on the forum would agree that "Super Mario Brothers" and "Street Fighter" were probably overlooked in their respective years by the Oscars.
Seriously, videogame - movie conversions are an attempt to strike while the iron is hot and cash in on a successful series (book, game, toy). Hey, if I could, I would too.

RESIDENT EVIL ROCKED! Do not blaspheme it by caling it subpar
Seriously though I did like RE and the sequal a lot and own them both, so lets see if DOOM can make it before we prejudge anything

Re: (Way OT) WOOOOT DOOM THE MOVIE!
I actually enjoyed Mortal Kombat. Mainly for the sountrack, flashy colors, and neat visuals.
The fight coreogrophy was only slightly above average for hollywood (which means is sucked) and the acting and plot was hammy. but it was fun, and i think it sounded good.
but for truely oscar worthy video game movies, how could you have forgoten Wing Commander?
Seriously though, Final Fantasy was a pretty film, even if a bit abstract for my taste.

Is anyone else thinking that we should all pool our resources and make a SE based movie??

I'm looking forward to SE5 allowing you to export combat replays to AVI or some other video format. Then we'll have gigs worth of footage in no time .
