If there is a joke, it has a real effect of having the sounds of death screams during the hosting or closing the view window while in the recruit screen for some commanders. I'm surprised you haven't heard it; maybe it's some driver-specific "feature".

My favorite perverse joke so far has been the slave collar on Madam Fortuna (a mercenary). Now that is a joke.
