Re: Anonymous vs Identifiable rituals
Does wind ride give any message if unsuccessful? If so, does it identify the caster?
Does Wish put out any sort of global message to the recipients or does it just take the provinces? (Possible there is a province losing activity that turn and you never see the flag).

Re: Anonymous vs Identifiable rituals
Back in Dominions 1 at least Vengeance of the Dead was fully anonymous. The monsters that attacked were Special Monsters - the player who casted it didn't have control over them. It was more like Manifestation (anonymous) and Earth Attack (anonymous) rather than a regular Assassination attempt (not anonymous).
Flames from the Sky and Murdering Winter are anonymous.
Mind Hunt is anonymous.
I'm pretty sure Melancholia is anonymous, too.

Re: Anonymous vs Identifiable rituals
Pretty much.
Anything that resembles a random event already in the game, shows up as that event. Nobody gets blamed for disease outbreaks, or even strange things like flames falling from the heavens...
Even when Mind Hunt -fails- because the caster's silver cord got severed, it doesn't tell you who the caster was.

Re: Anonymous vs Identifiable rituals
People will eventually realize that someone bombards them with anonymous spells though because if you get a hurricane on your capitol and your most valuable provinces every or every 2nd turn it is very unlikely that it is a random event.
Usually you can then find out which player most likely used those rituals on you.

Re: Anonymous vs Identifiable rituals
Right
I was more concerned with whether there was an identifiable message the turn the spell hits. I kind of like the ones where if it succeeds no one knows who it was...if it fails, oops.

Re: Anonymous vs Identifiable rituals
Identifying likely suspects is also easier in D3 than D2, with reduced magical diversity within most (especially late era) nations, with the restricted randoms and all.
