But then wouldn't it just be best to alert someone who is more familiar with the system to do it, rather then do it yourself, mess something up, and then someone else having to correct that error?

If everyone took that attitude, the Wiki would never be updated.

It's not like somebody's going to die because of a factual error in a bit of historical trivia.

What attitude is that? That it's better to notify someone who knows how to do it rather then attempting to do it yourself and possibly make the person who comes after you have to correct your mistake? True, nobody's going to die from this, no matter how badly it gets screwed up, but it sounds like your advocating a policy of "just do it yourself even if you don't know what the hell your doing". And just like it would never get updated with my attitude, it seems to me with your attitude wiki would be even more messed up than it currently is. Not trying to start a fight or be a troll, it's just I deal with people who make mistakes and input incorrect data on a daily basis and I'm always the one who gets someone screaming in my ear because the first person either A) did not know what they were doing and just didnt want to ask for help B)was too lazy to actually do the correct thing so just did the quickest, or, C) honestly thought that what they were doing was right. C is perfectly understandable, but A and B make more work for someone else, and can generally give the person who has to fix the mistake negative thoughts and feelings towards whoever made the mistake.
