I don't really understand all the confusion over this I thought I was pretty clear on how it works.

The best strategy is a AOE 1 weapon with quickness (from spell, boots or jade armour), you will then hit all units in a square, wether there is 1 to 6. If you kill them all, you will attack another square, hopefully killing another 1-6 units.
