To protect your planet, mines, sates, weaponPF, and troops.

Do you think satellites deployed from a planet work that well? The Last time I used them, it seemed like the sateliites were always on the wrong side of the planet from where their fleet attacked.

Regarding troops, I still think the AI uses them so rarely that I wouldn't plan on using them for defense when playing a single player game.

I'm curious why you didn't mention fighters. I think fighters are much, much more effective than either satellites or troops.
