EA Nation Early/Mid Strength?
What I'm looking for is nations with problematic early game.
Especially for those that can't easily reach spells that help them.

Oh, and the mighty Bandar Log, of course. )) Not even elephants fully make up for damn apes and monkeys pretending to be warriors.

Re: EA Nation Early/Mid Strength?
The only one I disagree with is MA Oceania; Ichtycentaurs are pretty damn good at expansion. After that is the issue.
LA Bogarus comes to mind.

I don't bother with paths on the Kraken, and depend on trade/luck/tiamat to get air gems for a fish ammy forger.

Re: EA Nation Early/Mid Strength?
Actually I think Marverni isn't that bad. You can get troop buffs and debuffs in alt and con early on and/or head for GfH. For example a vertgobret and 10 ambitate nobles can make a good raiding force.
Maybe I should rephrase the question. Which EA nations can't get a raiding force with < 400 gp and low level < lvl 4 spells?
What about Ermor?
Van? Ok, they can bless but are their sacreds worth it?

Ermor and Van are DEFINITELY not nations that come to mind for your requirements ...
