They were intended to be air dropable.
I know they've done tests dumping them out of aircraft but to the best of my knowledge it's never been done outside of the tests.

You're right, air droppable, not helo liftable. But FYI, the CH-53E Super Stallion can lift 17.8 tons:

Off topic but always wondered how they get the crane out once they have built the building round it, is this the solution?

Nope, the cranes are modular, they just disassemble them.

Thanks for setting me straight!

The "tank" in the photo looks like a light armoured scout vehicle similar to the Daimler Armoured Car or something of equal size. Not a MBT or tank in general.

While 20 tons would allow it to move most APC/IFV's I can't think of a single "real" tank that weighs in at less then about 40-45 tons. And since the discussion was about helo lifting tanks...

I was referring to Sheridan which at 17-18 tons is within the Mi-26 carry capacity.
A full blown MBT is of course out of the question. A Mi-12 (the record holder at 40 tons) might have managed to lift a early T-64 (38 tons give or take) but it would not have got very far in all likelyhood and it was not mass produced.
