Re: Original Steel Panthers converted scenarios
Wake Island, 23 Dec 1941*
*
Date: 23th December, 1941*
*
Battle Location: Wake Island, Wake Atoll*
*
Battle Type: Japan (Assault) vs USMC (Defend)*
*
Description:
*
Only 400 US Marines & 1000 construction workers stood in the way of the entire Japanese 2nd SNLF Division. Despite being outnumbered & outgunned, the Marines made the Japanese pay a heavy price for the island. Wake's gun batteries took out landing ships, destroyers & even a light cruiser. It took several days of heavy fighting before the island fell. But, for the rest of the war the battle cry "Remember Wake Island" rallied the USA.*

Issue in Doubt, Wilkes Island, Wake 23 Dec 1941*
*
Date: 23th December, 1941*
*
Battle Location: Wilkes Island, Wake Atoll*
*
Battle Type: Japan (Assault) vs USMC (Defend)*
*
Description:
*
After a two-week long air campaign and an embarrasing naval defeat, the Japanese SNLF units hit the beaches of Wake & Wilkes Islands in an effort to seize the atoll so as to extend their perimeter around the home islands. The US defenders made the Wilkes landing an "Issue in Doubt" because Captain Platt & his 1st Defence Battalion met the assault force head on.*

Kwajelein "A Step Closer to Japan", 15 Feb 1944*
*
Date: 15th February, 1944*
*
Battle Location: Kwajelein, Marshall Islands*
*
Battle Type: USMC (Assault) vs Japan (Defend)*
*
Description:
*
The bitter lessons of Tarawa taught the US invasion planners that more of everything was needed: more firepower from the air & the sea. New ships & weapons were therefore brought into use in the landings on Kwajelein. By the time that the 7th Army Division had landed on the beaches of Kwajelein, its shores had been pounded for 3 days!.*

The Thousand Yard Stare: Peleliu, Sept. 17, 1944*
*
Date: September 17, 1944*
*
Battle Location: Peleliu, Palau Islands*
*
Battle Type: USMC (Assault) vs Japan (Defend)*
*
Description:
*
Chesty Puller's First Battalion is to lead the way up "Bloody Nose Ridge", the high ground on the island of Peleliu. The ordeal is even worse for the Marines than Guadalcanal. The ridge is composed mainly of coral, and is filled with sharp rises and crevices. As they are moving up through the razor sharp coral, on Marine after another is being cut down by enemy fire. Casaulties are horrendous! At times the fighting has been hand to hand, and each time a Japanese body rolls down the ragged slopes, a cheer erupts from below.*
