Fallout Re: APC Development and related topics.

You might have missed the following as I added it after that post was added. From Post 750 this thread.

"Edit: Went back to bounce your START against mine when I realized there's your timeline-MAYBE. "

Just wanted to provide the posts when it first came up in discussion for that tank.

As to the other and from the ref from armyrec.com the following..
"When compared to other contemporary main battle tanks such as South Korea’s K2 Black Panther, Turkey’s Altay, Germany’s Leopard 2A8, France’s Leclerc XLR, or the American M1A2 SEP V3, the Cheonma-2 still lags in terms of digital networking, mobility, and possibly fire control sophistication. The K2, for example, features advanced composite armor, a highly automated fire control system, and a hydro-pneumatic suspension for superior cross-country mobility. The Leopard 2A8 integrates Trophy APS, fully digital battlefield integration, and state-of-the-art optics. The Leclerc XLR has been upgraded with enhanced digital command systems and a new remotely operated turret-mounted machine gun. At the same time, the M1A2 SEP V3 emphasizes survivability through improved armor and counter-IED measures, along with advanced thermal sights and new data-link capabilities."

It is definitely the North Koreas best tank to date.

As I noted Don and I were only "pennies apart" literally in our independent builds.

Both had APS/TI/GSR I had 40/or Generous Big Maybe 45/FCS My only difference was in SURVIBILITY which I had at 4/To ALL Armor Values it was like "Looking into a mirror" for the most part.

It's my Monday time to go!!

Regards,
Pat

Fallout Re: APC Development and related topics.

Though they don't have them yet, the agreement has been signed to where the Ukraine will be getting them I would think by this Fall (Oct.).
I thought I saw some discussion of this equipment fairly recently but apparently not in this thread.

I would direct your attention to Para 5 of the ref because I believe there again was some discussion about Ukraine getting the LAV 6.0 we worked on a handful of years ago. Ukraine got 91 of them.

So this might clear up a couple of issues.
https://www.armyrecognition.com/news...nce-operations

Still working on Taiwan tank issue. Ran into a situation concerning the improved M-60A3 it will require a date change to the right and it looks like it doesn't have the 120mm either.

Recent articles are showing it retained the 105mm thought they are brand new manufactured guns. Further it appears they'll be using the 105mm ammo that was to be allocated for the I believe CM-21 "SNOW LEOPARD" for which you'll not be glad that Taiwan has cancelled. The "older" round could penetrate 450mm RHA whereas the "newer" round" can penetrate depending on source 500-525mm RHA.

No one said this would be easy if it was everyone would be doing this I suppose!?!

Regards,
Pat

I assume the M60a3 issue is the one in slot #26??

As usual, info is "conflicting"

https://bulgarianmilitary.com/2025/0...ver-firepower/

"In a surprising move, Taiwan’s army has rejected the latest prototype of its domestically developed wheeled tank, the Clouded Leopard II, citing insufficient firepower from its 105-millimeter gun."

"The Armaments Bureau, responsible for the vehicle’s development, confirmed that the army will not accept the prototype unless its main armament is upgraded to a 120-millimeter cannon, a decision that has effectively stalled the ambitious Clouded Leopard Project."

So the question is, if Taiwan is not happy with the gun on the Wheeled CM22 and wants a 120mm gun .........why would they put a 105 back into the M60A3

Fallout Re: APC Development and related topics.

Simply put that's what the pictures are showing in my refs concerning the M-60A3.

If this holds up as my refs are showing I ONLY see a modification of UNIT 026 which would exchange the main gun and to include the newer 105mm round as posted in my last.

My refs FULLY support no other change to UNIT 026 except as I just noted above plus obviously a date change.

I had some time back already reported they were reporting the replacement of the "older" tubes with brand new 105mm tubes.

Those pictured look like 105mm main guns to me.

We will get this sorted out eventually but Google......."What caliber gun does the Taiwanese upgraded M60A3 tanks use?

This is the response

Quote:

The Taiwanese upgraded M60A3 tanks utilize a 120 mm M256 smoothbore gun. This is the same gun used in the US M1A1 and M1A2 Abrams tanks. The upgrade also includes a new fire control system and other enhancements to improve the tank's capabilities.
Specifically, the upgrades to the Taiwanese M60A3s include:
120mm M256 gun: Replacing the original 105mm gun with a more powerful 120mm smoothbore gun.
Fire Control System: An Integrated Fire Control System (IFCS) with a laser rangefinder, night sight, ballistic computer, and data bus.
Turret Drive: An electric turret drive system.
Engine: Upgraded to a 950 hp AVCR-1790-2C engine.
Other Improvements: Improved suspension, slat armor, and an Automatic Fire and Explosion Sensing and Suppressing system.
These upgrades significantly enhance the firepower, accuracy, and survivability of the Taiwanese M60A3 tanks.

There will not be anthing released for months. There are just too many heath issues both Andy and I have to deal with so we wait and see what develops in Taiwan
