They are all disabled because it makes ship combat more interesting... And ships design more interesting. Forces players to build ships they normally do not build...

tesco, i'd be willing to join, but i'd like to create my own empire, not take over one.

not like adm 004 were i can do nothing because i have to pay +200kt mins maintenance for 70 ships

Sorry, I beat you to it. I also like to create my own empire, but sometimes it is good to take over a poorly created empire and make it work. It has a tendancy of forcing you to hone your skills.

Alas, in this case, the empire is not only poorly designed, but he took a Banned racial trait. Don't know where this one will go. Perhaps a restart?
