Re: Is there a barbarian attack event or is this a bug?
I got it with drain-2. You need growth scales (1 is enough) and a forest province, and misfortune helps (to get the bad event). Having a forest for your capitol is horrible IMO, since not only does it open up the Ancient Presence, it also leaves you vulnerable to Beckoning (and Trod too, I suppose, I just never had anyone use that against me).

I've seen the independent AI's lose their capital to Bogus and his men... never being able to break free.

Wasn't Norfleet also known for castle spamming and cheating in DOM_2... or was that someone else?

That was Norfleet.
I could see an early game Bogus being a game ender. Or at least so crippling you couldn't recover. Some nations could handle it. Heavy bless or awake SC.
But if you were relying on normal troops for expansion, you'd need to research something to take him out.

In most games I've played, whenever Bogus shows up he usually just gets ignored by most players, unless he lands on a castle. If not on a castle, the province often becomes his forever and everyone just fights around him.
It is actually quite hilarious. Had a game where two choke points became one after he showed up.

The trog event also gives a magical site (Deepest Cavern) with 1E income.
|
There is more than one troglodyte event. The one that gives the site is known as the Kaspar event, for Kaspar of the Cave, who is mentioned in it.
The other one is earthquake + loss of temple + 10-25% popkill + trogs, so it's a lot worse.

He's such an amazing pain to kill this isn't surprising. Plus it keeps him from showing up somewhere else.
Isn't there some wierd way of cheating with him? I thought I heard some of his allies had scripts like "attack commanders" or "attack mages" and you could charm him and copy these scripts on to your other units.

Th flying knight has the ability to target enemy mages. You would have to charm him at the very least as enslave mind would force him to lose his commander status and by extension his script. However, it is an understated rule that you are not allowed to use that script in an MP game.

We all know if Bogus and friends are killed then he just might reappear someplace else later in the game. I've seen where if Bogus himself is killed, but not his friends then he and a new group of his friends can appear.
Just a fun fact I wanted to share.

I believe this was corrected in one of the latest patches, that the orders can no longer be given to him/copied from him or something like that.
