Is there a barbarian attack event or is this a bug?

the ancient presence is by far the worst - I was engaged in a war w/ Helheim (i was subbing into a fairly weak shinu in a megagame), and then I no longer saw any real resistance... get to his capital, and it had been besieged by a large ancient presence force

although once Norfleet had his mictlan capital besieged by a vampire count and couldn't break out (this was in Dom II before it was figured out that mict troops were actually great w/ a high bless), so he had to pull the plug on the server in order to avoid a loss
