Mods that improve gameplay?
Has anyone created mods for the game that improve the gameplay? I don't mean adding new races, ships, and technologies; but rather fixing and balancing the existing game elements?
I'm in the process of reworking the data files and didn't want to re-invent the wheel if someone has already addressed this.
Any feedback would be appreciated.

Re: Mods that improve gameplay?
That sounds to me like the TDM modpack. It improves the AI files, adds a few new races with killer AIs, and not much else.
I'm sure someone more knowledgable will fill in the details in a few hours' time.

try devnullmod or SJ's PnN mod
they play around with balance issues.

Re: Mods that improve gameplay?
I assume you are refering to points like:
- balancing weapon damage/range so that all the weapons have roughly the same worth in combat compared to thier cost or research.
- adjusting capabilities/cost of sensor to make sensors other than Hyper-optics more worthwhile.
- requiring small DUC 2's, and small DUC 3's to have small weapon research.
esentially a mod that is transparent to the AI in that all the changes made are used by the various AI's without having to make any changes to them. I've done a little work, but not enough to make it a waste to do over as I don't really use it, or work on it much since I try to make adjustments to the AI's I'm working on with no mods other than the TDM one.

Re: Mods that improve gameplay?
Thanks, that's exactly the type of balancing I'm talking about. I'm downloading the TDM ModPack now.
I think I'm still going to create my own modpack. I've always wanted to design a space strategy game, but couldn't do the graphics programming. Now, I don't have to. All I have to do is come up with a set of mod files that take maximum advantage of the existing engine.
Kudos to the programmers who created this, and the community that brings it to life!
