Adandon planet option
What does it do, beond giving you the option
to scraping all faclities? What happens to the population? I guess if a planet was going to be taken over, abandoning it would keep it out of enemy hands.

Re: Adandon planet option
I took over some planets inhabited by another race, but they were "angry" all the time and kept rebelling. The abandon button allows you to address this problem by dumping the inhabitants while keeping the colony, though you do lose the old population and have to move new people in. You don't have to destroy the facilities unless you want to.

Re: Adandon planet option
I used it in my current game, I received a message about planet XYZ's core meltdown or somthing to that effect in 1 year. Of course it had a 8000M Pop and after I transported the Pop off it still left 1M Pop on the planet, The only way to remove them was to abandon the colony.

Re: Adandon planet option
What exactly happens to the population on an abandoned planet? Do they get evenly divided around you empire view tiny transports that are too small to see? Or do they all go commit suicide for the greater good of the empire?

Fear the squirrel.

Re: Adandon planet option
I think they commit suicide or just get "jettisoned to space". Either way, they are lost forever and don't go to another colony or planet.
