All My Friends
I'm playing a game where I'd run into three neutral and six "normal" AI players. I had good relations with them all, they were all Allied with me to the point of Trade and Research or better; all neutral were Partners as were three of the Normals, all of whom were Brotherly.
According to the Treaty Grid, I had the only treaties in the galaxy. Borders showed three sets of conflicts, only one involving me, a race with whom I had a Military Alliance. I had even carefully monitored Borders, carefully pulling back claims as one of my Brothers expanded into space I had claimed but not occupied.
Then, in a span of two turns, for reasons I cannot discern, I was at war with them all. Every race, with little or no contact between them, turn against me within two turns.
What happened??????

Re: All My Friends
There's a setting in Settings.txt called "AI Uses Mega Evil Empire" that when True (the default) basically causes all the AIs to turn nasty on a player when he reaches a certain score. I think the score limit is at 500K or higher.
It's there to make the game tougher, but you can turn it off if you don't like it.

Re: All My Friends
You could probably also edit the text files to slow down the anger buildup.

Re: All My Friends
Lint,
Not a certain score but when a player's points exceeds the other AI players points by a certain amount. And this option can be shutoff. FYI MM is fixing this as we speak.

Seawolf- If he grew to 150% larger (score-wise) of the next best empire then he just triggered the Mega evil AI. MM isn't fixing this as there is nothing wrong with it. MM was fixing a 1.05 bug that led empires to get upset at you as soon as you meet them. i think you are confusing the two.

Re: All My Friends
Ahh, OK!
Percent difference would explain the "AI Human Mega Evil Empire Score Percent" and "AI Computer Mega Evil Empire Score Percent" settings.
But there is also the "AI Mega Evil Empire Threshold Score Thousands" that is set to 500. By "threshhold", I was assuming it meant that the Evil Empire thing didn't kick in until you exceded that amount.
Perhaps your score needs to be above the computer by 150% AND it has to be above 500K?

Re: All My Friends
Heh. I started a game with the full Version Last night (woohoo!), and am facing a nearly identical situation... and yes, my score ~500k or so. Tricky game because (a) I chose Gas, and therefore have to defend more systems to keep the same number of planets (albeit I've now got all three colony techs), (b) graph connectivity is quite high, so my borders are rather long.
OTOH, the AIs show no ability yet to detect my cloaked BC/DNs, so I can hit their outlying worlds (don't yet have Quantum Reactor, not sure if I have solar panels yet. I need to focus on three combat research priorities -- solar sail, quantum reactor, and talisman-of-unearthly-accuracy.), and I'd been mining since pretty early in the game, so my minefields destroy an average of 4-5 ships/turn...

Re: All My Friends
No AI bonus... yet. But perhaps there should have been, given the sometimes odd decisions I made (e.g. religious tech) and that they aren't obliterating me in an 8-on-1.
*shrug*
Just have to get more speed and range before one of 'em wises up and gets WMGs or, worse, starts capturing my ships with intel. Hrmph.
