Default Newtonian Physics

Is it possible to mod Newtonian Physics in Starfury?

Like, no instant changes in velocity, but constante acceleratio and decceleration to achieve the desired velocity, and, when the engines are destroyed you continue coasting in the same speed (or slow gradually)

Plese note: i have only the demo at this moment (will receive the full game in a couple of weeks: Brazil don't have a shrapnelgames distributor....)

Thanks

I plan on doing just that once a few details are cleaned up in the implementation. Adding abilities inherent to the hull, and getting the custom slots to be visible, in particular.

The idea is to give the ship nearly unlimited maximum speed, and have that ability inherent to the hull, so you never lose top speed.
The engines no longer produce that speed, but rather turning rate and acceleration. Different engine slot types would be needed for each hull so you can scale the abilities appropriately to the mass.

If your engines get damaged while you're doing an attack run, you'll keep coasting along, out of control until you hit something or get the engines back Online

Too bad it's not possible to have the ship going in one direction but facing another...

Then again, we have enough trouble crashing into invisible planets, I'd rather not crash into ones that are BEHIND me as well!

Don't know about the AI but I'd love to mod a Whitestar from B5 to starfury and do attack runs like in the serie.

Example: Pursuing enemy then when flying past him turn around and shoot.

As for an ability a quick way to turn 180 degrees would be nice. For example press button and the ship rolls over. Like when you bumb into something and die (but without dying of course)

And as for a final question: Has anyone created/modded B5 Excalibur -like ship. I though about doing so but I can't find any 3ds models from the net and I'm not so good with 3dsMax as I only started to practise it this weekend. Too bad I lost the TrueSpace CD.

sorry for going little off-topic.

How would that be any quicker - you'd still turn 180 degrees, but about a different axis

The answer for the current Version of the game is "no". You can make a mod to try to make things "a bit more like Newtonian physics", but it would take a lot of help from the developer to come very close.
