Give Dominions a try... it's a turn-based strategy game like Space Empires, only instead of ruling a galactic empire, you play as an aspiring god attempting to destroy all other gods in a fantasy world (loosely based on real mythology plus one race from the works of HP Lovecraft
) via your massive armies of soldiers, mages, undead, etc. (but no elves, dwarves, vorpal swords, or the typical fantasy stuff)
