Thats interesting. If indies really can have artifacts tho that could be overpowered. Imagine finding Aegis or the Soulstone or something on turn 3!
As for Carcator's behavior: perhaps you had no spells researched that he could cast so he decided to go for melee?
|
No, I don't think so. I had plenty of death magic researched, since I was playing the Fomorians. He never casts spells in battle though. I'm still playing the game, and the commander still has Carcator. I'll let you know what he does when I get back to it.

Re: Pocket Lich gone Wild
I should probably mention that I am playing the Mac 3.10 patch (the one that masquerades as 3.09), so that could make things a bit dubious.

Re: Pocket Lich gone Wild
Ahhh. He does cast spells. You must be right Ironhawk, I must not have had any death magic researched when I was first using him (he does have a Bite for 2, so he can attack). I just played a new turn, and he skelly spammed for the whole turn.

Re: Pocket Lich gone Wild
In my experience, every version of the game has items aplenty in indies, even in mercenaries you hire, though those usually suck. The items tend toward low level and tend toward later game pops I believe. I've played with high misfortune in long game and had the same event happen multiple times. item distribution has never been identical, except that bogus always has his stuff.

Re: Pocket Lich gone Wild
The guy that had the Pocket Lich was a Chimera. I don't remember his name though. It may have been a special site... it had very nice defenders. The Chimera flew right by them though and quickly impaled himself on my front ranks. I guess Chimera's are not real bright.

Re: Pocket Lich gone Wild
I ran into the Great Mother and Lord of Fertility once. I used 5 fully equipped Bane Lord SC's and came away with nothing. Didn't have any losses so I never even looked at the battle replay. I guess I should have done it differently.
