Newb SC help (demo)
Hey everyone. I purchased Dom3 on Amazon a few days ago, can't wait to get my hands on the full game. According to Amazon it won't arrive until December 8ish, so I'm stuck with the demo and no manual for a little while longer.
This looks like the game I've been dreaming of, shame it took me so long to realize it existed. Anyway, on to the newbishness...
I've been trying to make a SC but I don't know what I'm doing, so my results so far have not been good to say the least. I'd really appreciate it if someone could someone walk me through how to make a competent SC with one of the nations in the demo (EA Arco, Marverni, Agartha, Atlantis, or Kailasa) if it is possible.
I searched the forums and didn't find any help for this specifically, if I missed it please point me to it.
I'm sure I'll have many more questions for you guys in the future. Thanks in advance.

Re: Newb SC help (demo)
Take a awake Prince of Death with Death magic7, Domstrenght 9 and whatever scales you can afford as Kailaisa. He can nuke any independent province without archers with ease from turn 1.
Forge him a Black steel Plate (5 earth gem trinket armor) and he can take any independent force. Research construction and just add more stuff to him.

Re: Newb SC help (demo)
Its hard to build a truly badass SC in the demo, because your research levels don't permit the best arifacts and chassies.
What burn saber said above will work. here is another option: Take a wyrm with dominion 10. When you can forge him two horned helms. you may want to give him water 2 so he can cast quicken self (or is it water one??) Good against indies. Dragons are also good.
Oh, and always remeber fatigue fighting items. Fatigue is the number one killer of SCs.

You can also use Kings of the Deep as Atlantis. They can make good SC's.

Re: Newb SC help (demo)
Use the Dagon pretender of Atlantis, give him water 9 for defence, dominion 9 or 10 for awe, and you have the best early game SC (able to take alone and naked most indie provinces even with high indie strength), and once equiped he's also one of the good SC for late game as he don't have the limited number of slots wyrms/dragons get.

Yep, absolutely. Within the confines of the demo you could script summon earthpower (conj2) ironskin (alt3) quicken self (alt2) iron will (Thau3) and fire shield (ench3) and with your national mages forge stuff like fire/frost brand, some random shield, armor and helmet (possibly fire plate/charcoal shield/black steel helmet), boots of giant strength, lucky charm and amulet of magic resistance. With help of indy mages and/or your pretender you could switch in horror helmet, ring of regeneration, chain mail of displacement and boots of the messanger, and you're not too far away from a setup that would kickass in the full game too. For a bit of variety you could also use boots of the behemoth and literaly crush your foes underfoot. If you go this route try to add in some more fatigue recovery (amulet of resilience?) and defensive items (lucky coin? faithful? possibly two shields and no weapon)

Re: Newb SC help (demo)
Is it me or do Boots of the Behemoth negate the Frost/Fire Brand AE? Whenever I use the boots my SCs don't swing their sword, they just knock everything around, so the AE never goes off.

Re: Newb SC help (demo)
Yes, units with trample will trample anything smaller than themselves instead of using their weapons. Weapons will still be used on targets of the same size or larger.
That's why he suggested the possibility of 2 shields and no weapon if you use the boots.

Re: Newb SC help (demo)
Exactly, I suggest two sheilds on a size 6 trampler. and Possibly a stone bird.

The Dagon rocks. So far he is my favorite Pretender in the game.
