Default Deselecting Units and Company HQ

Hollo!

1.Is there a way to de-select units?
Like a button i have missed. (I have read the manual )
I know there is the undo button for single play, but in PBEM sessions i have more than one time sent my HQ out of it's hiding place or ran a valuable tank into some house.

2.Although playing for a while now i tend to lose overview of which units go together.
The lighted up units on the mini map help, but they only show the platoon, not (CO)HQ.
In WW2 often the HQ is named as such making it much easier to keep track of this.
Is there a reason why CO HQs are not named in WINSPMBT ?

Cheers,
Chris

1) No. Be careful that you press on the desired new unit, not a hex beside it. Or use the N and P keys to navigate units (there is one for the next HQ as well), or the HQ or Roster menus.

2) Company HQs are NOT specifically named in either game. Some scenario designers have done so, however. This is not a good idea if the opponent is not the AI, as humans will be able to determine which are leader units instantly, once sighted (or if not yet spotted, but they fire upon you), and so easily "decapitate" your formations. (This is also a reason for not having special command vehicles).

Cheers
Andy

Thank you for your answers.

1)Alright, i think this is actually not to bad, in the chaos of battle, someone surely might run off in the wrong direction now and then, it even happens in peaceful exercises hehe...

2)I see, probably i played scenarios in single player which led me to this wrong conclusion.
Of course, officers will be a primary target, i forgot that the enemy will be able to see the specific unit name as well.
