Well, Glory of Gods or Eight Gates look fine for me, but I must admit I didn't actually test them. Alexander map I didn't see at all - can you provide link?
If map of less provinces is usable, I liked Dawn of the Dominions very much..

And do I understand correctly that you abandoned the idea of using Worthy Heroes mod (I'm indifferent to this one)?
