Disband mod
I hope people won't mind me posting here about a mod. I just made a mod which allows you to kill your own units, using an idea of MaxWilson's. Since people have been wanting such an option for some time, I thought it might be interesting to some people who wouldn't look in the modding subforum. If you're interested, you can find it there; it's called "Final Sacrifice".

Re: Disband mod
Excellent. I like playing on large maps, but I hate having useless units sitting around in safe provinces almost as much as I hate shuttling them across 20 provinces of mountains to the front. The flavor text is great and helps me to believe that disbanding is thematic.

Re: Disband mod
you know what I hate in particular? Being playing a lucky nation and having those "free militia" events.
From now on, anyone, ANYONE AT ALL, who volunteers for the army without being asked, will most likely end up blasted by holy fire.
PD: concerning the AI´s tendence to try to blast you with the power: is this fully innocuous, or will it kill their spies in my provinces/waste valuable spellcastings (as in, doing that instead of using other spells on me)? :/
If the latter, it might be convenient to do that thing someone suggested in mods and modding, and prepare a "blank" mod, to paste over the spell when you want to do some cleanup.

Awesome. I'm going to have to start playing with this.
How does it work?

Re: Disband mod
It's like a free Flames From the Sky with high AN damage. It will kill about half of any friendly units that are in the province. Cast repeatedly to wipe out the units completely.

Re: Disband mod
Must say that I disagree with that. An idea of original authors that you must still feed those you have hired even if you can't find a use for them, seems quite logical.
On the other hand, if the said spell had some moderate (gold especially) cost it could be thought of as giving those you don't need some retirement bonus and sending them home. Especially if said cost could be tailored to the # of troops affected...
Another possibility would be some low-cost transformation-type spell (into something with no upkeep cost).

Re: Disband mod
Paying mage time just to lose troops seem for me sufficient.
