Is it possible
Is it possible to buy a platoon or so size group of units and then remove only parts of it and keep what I want to? If I try to remove any part it asks me if I want to remove all of them.

Re: Is it possible
Nope. The smallest unit you purchase is an all or nothing deal. Granted the purchase points are there.

Re: Is it possible
Just checked that you can use the 'W' key to re-assign individual units to other platoons in the deploy phase of a battle, I thought it was scenario-building only.
I don't know if this helps, since the removed units are still attached somewhere else and actually bought, but at least you can put them on the side or retreat them off-map if you don't need them.
In scenarios I use this to shrink some platoons or strengthen HQ units, assigning the rejected units to an additional "dump" platoon HQ which I then delete back in the buy menu. Which you can't do in a battle, obviously.

Re: Is it possible
I can only think of using that in a campaign were you would reasign all the units you wanted to dump in deployment, then play the battle and in the expand/repair screen afterwards dump them.

Yes, that's my plan.

If I remember correctly there was a problem in previous version (4) doing this in a campaign. Which was fixed in this, I guess. Thanks for the idea. I think I will skip it though since it just takes too long for any single battle.

Re: Is it possible
How do you make one of your own units retreat off the map?

What exactly do you mean? Units will automatically retreat off the map if they reach the edge while routing. If you want to exit units that are in good order move them onto grey edge hexes at your end of the map & they exit at the end of the turn.

Re: Is it possible
Thanks, Imp. I meant the latter. I had moved onto gray squares before with no effect. Didn't realize the units go away if you leave them there.
