Re: How is "R'lyeh" pronounced?
I'm surprised people put a vowel in place of the '. I pronounce it "Rlee -yeah", or sometimes "R(stop)lee-yeah"

Yeah, The "'" is sound made by your tentacles. So it can be a bit hard to pronounce by humans. Having a non euclidean anatomy also helps.

I think you would have to be insane to pronounce properly and to understand the awesomeness once you can.

Re: How is "R'lyeh" pronounced?
Well I will try to ask a Shoggoth friend of me for prounonciation....
...Well Shoggoths are maybe a bad idea as they are not that great in prounoucation, nor they are kind teachers (I think that eating bad prounoncing students is a bit harsh...)

I don't believe you. Rl is not a pronounceable starting consonantal sound. You have to insert a vowel to say it. (There's a reason I prefer a schwa - yay, i remembered the name)

Of course it is. R and L are both voiced consonents. Japanese doesn't distinguish them either. In French slang, "reluquer" can be pronounced rluquer for instance, and would be spelled r'luquer to show the schwa is not pronounced. Now my R is a French R, it's "harder" than the English version, so that may explain why I don't need a vowel and you do: The same letter doesn't mean the same sound.

Re: How is "R'lyeh" pronounced?
I always said it "Rye Leth"
Rye like the bread
"Leth" rhymes with "Meth"
Then i saw that there actually wasn't a "T" and got sad, but I've grown so used to it, it's hard to kick.

Really? I could have sworn R'lyeh was pronounced "All your mind are belong to Cthulhu. You are on the way to lobotomization. There is no chance to escape, make your time."
But maybe that is just me.
