Discover Infinity with a Wealth of Upgrades!
Wilmington, NC, 5 January 2016
Hey, Approaching Infinity players, start the New Year off right!
Developer Ibology has just made available a brand new patch for Approaching Infinity. The patch upgrades the game to version 1.3 and is full of bloom caves, golden pollen, and red honey goodness, with fixes, changes and many new additions, all meant to enhance this already superb game.
The version 1.3 patch includes:
- Added: 3 new officer classes - operative, pathfinder, transmutor.
- Added: bloom caves.
- Added: red honey, which is dropped by some insects. Triples your melee damage, but increases your oxygen consumption. What a dilemma!
- Added: 4 new planet monsters!
- Changed: fake ID & comm jammer. Both reduce the effect of questing for other races.
- Changed: when crafting space suits, it is now possible to create one with a power that you already know.
- And many more. For full details on the updates found in the 1.3 patch please check out its changelog.
The patch, for both PC and Mac versions, can be downloaded from the Approaching Infinity product page, located below. Saved games are completely compatible with this update, so refitting can be done in the middle of your current jaunt amongst the endless stars.

Approaching Infinity is a single-player sci-fi turn based graphical rogue-like game set in an infinite universe with no level caps or map limits. Explorer, pirate, mercenary, trader, or perhaps a mixture, the where and why of your adventures is entirely up to you. There are multiple victory conditions that allow a hard win, but there is also simply the sense of satisfaction of your own five year trek across the stars. Approaching Infinity is a true galactic exploration game, where you (and sometimes fate!) will decide when your tale is over.
As the mysteries of the universe are revealed the player can upgrade their starship, better their crew, buy low and sell high on the galactic commodity market, craft new items, meet new aliens, board wrecks, explore planets, caves, ruined cities, and take on a multitude of quests. And while the game is rogue-like in the sense of content totally procedurally generated, it is a player friendly rogue-like, allowing permadeath to be optional.
Additionally, beyond packing thousands and thousands of hours of gameplay into the standard version of Approaching Infinity players can freely mod practically everything in the game.
