Re: Newb Network EA Aran (Full)
Marverni are an honorable people, but we are also absolutely terrible at calculating dates, as we have not yet invented The Calendar or even Arithmetic yet.
What is the exact season when Marverni's hordes would be discharged from their treaties and obligations, and eligible to receive orders to advance into the land of Vanhiem on the next turn?
Of course, since we have spent the last several turns sneaking around trying to build an alliance against the Vanheim, we would hold no grudge against them were they to attack us immediately.
-- Secretary to the Minister of Oath Keeping, Marverni
PS Your news of the continuing conflict between Ermor and Mictlan is most distressing, and we are sick to our stomachs. Oh, hold on -- it's just indigestion from eating too many Monkey Pies.

Re: Newb Network EA Aran (Full)
I attacked Arco in Early Fall of Year 3, turn 30. You and Mictlan informed me of your intentions during turn 31. I would say that means you can attack on turn 34, Winter of year 3.

Re: Newb Network EA Aran (Full)
ooc, thanks! But does that mean I give orders to attack in turn 33 (early winter), and on turn 34 my armies attack, or do I give the orders to attack on turn 34? Apologies for the noobishness, and I think it doesn't really matter all that much in this game because it will be a massacre, but it's good for me to understand how these things work, if only for future games.

Re: Newb Network EA Aran (Full)
I see it as Orders on turn 34 and armies attack on turn 34. You see the results along with the chance to give orders for turn 35. That's probably just semantics and it makes less sense the more I think about it.
I didn't really think this through until it actually came up and I may not be strictly impartial here, so feel free to argue.
Here's my rationale:
3 turn warning means three turns between the warning and attack. Three sets of orders given.
In this case the warning was given on turn 31, we've all given orders for 31 and 32, giving 33 to position armies and on 34 we're all free to attack.
I hope that made sense. Is this hard to think about, or have I just not had enough caffeine yet?

Re: Newb Network EA Aran (Full)
Cool! I was thinking about it the wrong way. Now that I think of events occurring on the turn orders are given, it's much clearer. See you in the winter, unless you see me first .

Quickhost is Off
Thanks for playing, Eressil3! I'm sure Marverni is most utterly screwed now that our army is toast after several poorly planned invasions of your territory and seductions by monkey-demon-women, and we will soon be crushed by Vanheim.
I connected to see the results from last turn, and did not do an 'End Turn', but I see a '+' beside Marverni. I don't have time to finish my turn now, so I've turned quickhost off to avoid leaving my army remnants scattered all over Aran. I'll turn quickhost back on in about 8 hours.

Re: Quickhost is Off
OOC: HAHA, Vanheim. No worries. In a way, it was cool to see pretty much all my territories fall at once.
I will DEFINITELY do PD next time, when there are cloaked armies around. Live and learn, right?
Enjoyed the game. Hope to see you guys in another one...

Quickhost is back On
Okay, thanks for playing, Thrawn!
Though you look alive to me still . One province left, right?
On another topic, I've completed my move, so I turned quickhost back on. Looks like Mictlan and Vanheim are still pending anyway.
Update:
Does the Shroud Congress of Ermor not see that they have one last chance to rise up and strike together against the Vanheim threat? If the Augurs would listen to the news from travelers, they would hear of the horrendous struggles in the East and North. Vanheim already controls half the world, and their false Prentender has only just awoken! Gather your armies and attack, while it is still wobbly-headed from oversleeping!
The Soothsayers of Marverni predict that if Ermor does not take this chance while they have it, then the Ermor empire will be doomed, fall into decline, and its future will be a wasteland of the undead. This we have seen, in the readings of the entrails! Ermor must march on Vanheim now!

Re: Quickhost is back On
Sorry to be holding up the game.
I got in late last night and just didn't have time to go through it. I should be able to do at least one tonight, but maybe not tomorrow. After that I should have time.
I know there's no timer, but I thought I'd let people know, so no one thought I'd dropped off the face of the earth.
Turns are starting to take awhile. Some thinking time, too. If we were on a timer, I'd probably be asking for 48 hours around now anyway.
