Re: Void Gate instruction Manual
Surrounded by my temples and having a stealthy dom10 ghost king pretender haunting your capital will do that... there also might have been some ... contributing... factors.

Re: Perpetuality - The 60 Player MegaGame (Signup)
Well, I outlasted 5 other nations (including the ones that went AI) and I probably had a worst starting position, and couldn't have had better scales, so I'm not too unhappy about going down.

Just 55 more nations left to defeat before someone is crowned winner then, almost half way there

Re: Perpetuality - The 60 Player MegaGame (Signup)
Well, here is some drama for you HB.
EA C'tis has received a letter from Midgard indicating that MA Man is plotting against the lizardmen. We have also received a copy of a message Man supposedly sent to Midgard. Since Man decided to smear us in the public not too long ago, we have decided to make this issue known to all. Here is the supposed copy of Man's message to Midgard.
---
Well fought sir! Your valor is to be commended, and in Our generosity, which befits us, the true God, We have ordered Our forces to stand against Our traditions and *refrain* from pissing on the graves of your fallen. This is, of course, the second highest honor that can be done a defeated enemy - the highest being an offering of the finest Mannish whiskey, albeit passed through the kidneys.
Our army is far from invulnerable, but the day is Ours - behind fortress walls, with wind guide and flaming arrows (which We will will cast Ourself), and the other fruits of Our latest research, you really have no chance of wiping it out.
Now, you might consider turning your main force around and trying to burn down Our capital. In fact, that is *actually* what I expect you to do. However, with Our forces harassing you and retreating (longbowmen are good at this), casting panic on your stuff and retreating (you won't have anywhere to flee), etc. etc., not to mention Our dear little brother Menhir trying to intercept you, you won't make that long march. Still, the inconvenience you would cause Us would be quite substantial, we do not deny.
On the other hand, if, nefarious monster that you are, you were, with great cunning, to walk the 1-2-3 blocks to *EA C'tis* capital. Well, We'd be completely in the wrong position to intercept you. Much to Our dismay, you would have outmaneuvered Us again!
Of course, We'd be *anguished* over the truly grievous hurt you might inflict on poor EA C'tis - after he had bravely, and with great principle and conviction, told everyone to declare war on you right after signing an NAP.
And then, the moment your forces cross his border, bravely bribed LA C'tis and Us to attack you.
Finally, he has been the one courageously taking the brunt of the losses, while LA C'tis and We skulk around the fringes of your empire, cutting off your income at no risk to Ourselves.
Oh, surely, We would weep *tears of blood* to see Our good and noble friend EA C'tis earn some sort of comeuppance, possibly even seeing his own capital *burned to the ground*, for so adroitly engineering your destruction, and then claiming all of your lands for himself!
It would be a sad and terrible day, and so We implore you sir, on your tender mercies, don't do it!
Sincerely yours,
Knife Bright Insight
---
Now this could be truthful, EA C'tis certainly does not trust Man, or it could be ploy by a desperate nation, Midgard has tried to sway us in the past.
It would be wrong of us to make assumptions when only hearing one side of the story. So EA C'tis would like to hear what MA Man has to say.

Re: Perpetuality - The 60 Player MegaGame (Signup)
That's mostly accurate, and I see no point in quibbling over details or slight changes in phrasing, even if they are purposefully inflammatory or (known by both of us to be) untrue.
Firstly, did I not warn you to muster your forces on your border? If I *really* wanted him to hurt you as much as possible, I would hardly have told you to muster against such a contingency, would I?
If he does turn north, you are in position to intercept him - I cannot be accused of ignoring such contingencies.
Given the choice of seeing him send that army to my capital or to yours, I'd certainly rather he send it to yours. I'll still do my best to destroy it, but to defeat your enemy, you must think like your enemy: he wants to hurt those who attacked him, since he's basically lost, and you publically called for the attack against him, and your capital is closer to his army with less impressive defenses in the way. Obviously I'm going to point this out, and make a case why he should revenge himself on you, rather than on me. Nothing personal.
One need only look at the case of Marverni to see how powerful and dire vengeance can be! Midgard is flailing around, looking for a target, and there really are only three choices.
If you want to start a fight between us over it - well, that won't save him, but it would, I suppose, serve his purposes by weakening both of us.

I think some races need to put aside their petty bickering and take a peek at the score graphs.
It amazes me that my scouts are watching fights between guppies when the area all around them is being devoured by a Great White Shark who will be gobbling the guppies up shortly.

Re: Perpetuality - The 60 Player MegaGame (Signup)
If those guppies wish to stand against the sharks, they need income and gems and territory to use as buffers, which means they need to gobble eachother, at least to some extent.
Also, uniting against a stronger neighbor doesn't do a lot of good if you don't share borders!

Re: Perpetuality - The 60 Player MegaGame (Signup)
I tried to tell them, and look what happened to me? We had atleast 4 nations in the area, besides mine, that could have gotten together and taken out Ermor, but instead everybody decided that I was full of hot air, and it was fun to watch my nation get pin-pricked to death.
I wasn't going to continue following this thread, since I really don't have a lot of free time, but I've decided it's worth it, just to see Ermor wipe everybody else out.
