Re: PBW status
Well, it appears we are down again today so I guess the loose cable wasn't the problem.

Re: PBW status
Oh no, I killed PBW again...
Was in the middle of downloading a turn when it just died
I think SE5 is doing something nasty to it... Quick Aaron hurry up with that patch that fixes the huge combat replays!

Re: PBW status
Ok, well bad news. I'm really, really stupid. I unplugged the wireless access point and the router at the same time. They have the same sized plug, but unfortunatly they have different voltages on those adapters. My wireless access point that is used to 5v didn't like 9v.
Access point is toast. No wireless means no connection to the PBW server.
I'm getting a new access point tommorow. Truth be told I was planning on getting a new one anyway. The current one was pretty old. Server should be back up tommorow evening sometime.

Re: PBW status
In case anyone is wondering, I'm following my standard procedure for extended outages here. I've currently got the server shut off, so no turn processing will occur. I will disable auto processing once I get the network back up and leave it disabled for a couple days to allow people to get caught up on their games.

Re: PBW status
Ok, the server is back up and on the network. During all the switching things around I've ended up with a new IP address. The request has been made to update the DNS for the seiv.pbw.cc URL. It may take a few hours to percolate through the system. In the mean time you should be able to reach the PBW site directly at http://69.81.92.3. Someone let me know if that doesn't work, please. Once the DNS updates you can go back to using the pbw.cc address.
Again, I'm leaving auto processing off for a couple days. If all turns are uploaded your turn will process, or the game owner can manually force a turn and it will run. But they won't run simply due to reaching their turn time limit.

Re: PBW status
Server is back up and running and the DNS is all updated, so you should be able to reach the site with the normal pbw.cc address.
We had another outage overnight which was more of the same problem I've been having with my isp connection, nothing to do with the new network hardware installed.
I've loaded a script on the server which checks periodically for connection loss and attempts to reset the modem if needed. This should greatly improve the reliability of the site. If you can't reach the site give it about 5 minutes and try again. If you still can't reach it then something else has happened that a simple reset won't fix, or my script isn't working.

Re: PBW status
Looks like the cat's been busy again. For me, at least.
