It's actually pretty clever. i is an imaginary number, and the equation works out to i. I think he's still a bit mad.

What's wrong with an imaginary NAP?
edit: Oh, I just realized that you aren't calling me insane, but you think I'd hold a grudge. Don't worry, I sent that message to everyone! And as far as NewbsGoneWild, it just wouldn't be right if the imperium wasn't under attack on all sides, now would it?

Ah, I thought I was the only one. Then the Admiral spoke up, so I thought it was just the pair of us. That makes me feel a bit better. The Imperium is above grudges, after all. Though not above carefully utilized apocalyptic weaponry.

The Imperium holds no grudges because they already hate everyone. Too bad that strategy is suicidal in dom3, but I couldn't really forsake it. Of course, it isn't over yet, don't expect me to simply roll over! It's too bad I had to call in an exterminatus on all of my outlying fortresses, but I couldn't just let you have them.

Re: NewbsWithLowSelfEsteem - Year 1: The Phantom Menace
I just assumed the strange caelum scribblings where part of an elaborate mind control spell. I'm not sure, but I assume that the ill omen has something to do with it. Maybe the Ill omen was even caused by the message?
PS: did anybody ever notice that MP games using misfortune always have a lot more bad events than SP games? I don't know why, but so far all my mp games with misfortune have meant a turn 2 unrest event at my cap.

My few forays with just misfortune 1 has ALWAYS ends up with bad events out of proportion then what I'd expect to see, to the point where I never take any misfortune. Maybe I just have bad luck!

Re: NewbsWithLowSelfEsteem - Year 1: The Phantom Menace
Well turn 3 shows that bad luck always follows bad luck. While our conquests are successful, our patrollers with a patrol score of at least 35+ could only find 1 guy publicly execute. We really need to shut down the internet in our nation. (Ps, markata are one of the most cost effective patrollers in the game. If they where upkeep free it was even better).

I thought I was the only one! People talk about taking 1-2 misfortune, but everytime I do it I get some sort of game killing horrible event on turn 2.

I have luck 3 in FirstSteps. Got a horrible death event in turn 6 or so at my cap. 80+ unrest.

Re: NewbsWithLowSelfEsteem - Year 1: The Phantom Menace
Yeah, I always try to maintain at least neutral fortune. I also dislike death (unless it is a nation that really only plays that way). That being said, I am not usually reliant much on my pretender (meaning I don't like to be... I've seen enough SC pretenders die out of the gate that I've decided decent scales are worth much more than somewhat faster initial expansion), so getting pretty good scales doesn't set me back too much.
